Three socks, one hour: learn the cascade

Photo: Lisett Kruusimäe

The cascade is the basic three-ball juggling pattern, and most people can land it in under an hour — which nobody believes until they've tried. You don't need juggling balls: three pairs of socks rolled tight work better, because drops don't bounce or roll off down the hall. Stand over your bed (or on grass — same logic), build it one ball at a time, and keep a running drop count out loud. The count is the souvenir: you can't guess your number from the sofa, and everyone's is higher than they'd admit. Finish with one frame of a sock hanging in the air above your own two hands.
